The Great American State Fair - Why I attended as a Black Woman.
If you ask me I’ll tell you. I had a grand time at the State Fair on the National Mall and here’s why… At first glance, it may surprise you that I as a Black Woman, I even remotely had an interest in showing up to what many have deemed to be a “Donald Trump Cause.” …but, that’s just the thing. Who says that this is about the United States President - at all? After all - it's the American people and our tax dollars that funded this initiative. And, I paid my taxes this year. So I’m entitled to, go-see. In fact, let’s take it a step further... here we are celebrating 250 years of establishment but it would not be possible without the contribution of my Ancestors...who paid for it all. While Africans never consented to being abducted and dragged from their homes, forced into labor, tortured and abused for years - who am I to discount their contribution in blood, sweat and tears?
