Well...it had to be WILL.

Well….it had to be Will. I didn’t see the Oscars, I was enjoying a nice dinner out with my Friend that night. One of the Top Designers in the Caribbean, we were an Asian restaurant — it was my first time eating Bittermelon with a tasty tang sauce. I turned over my shoulder to peak at the outfits the speakers we wearing, occasionally. My friend commented on the attire too — laughing, nodding, wincing, approving with a smile or a joke or a smirk. It was the next day — in the morning time, I rolled over and read that Will had “took a punch” at Chris Rock and didn’t believe what I was seeing. After I fully came too, I made the wrong move — investigating this further which led to I’m sure like so many people on their phones trolling for a close-up, a downward spiral of endless video clip replays, meme pop-ups, opinion columns, Twitter buzz and more…annotating the event about the “King Richard”, Oscar-Winning Lead Actor.  What can you do? It is true what Denzel Washington sai...

I realized... touching down, when the wheels hit the pavement safely + the pilot turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign, then and only then do I feel a sigh of relief. "I made it back to Land!", I think to myself.  The rest.... well--*SIGH* That feeling of being a foreigner in my humble abode. I couldn't shake it. Besides my seeing Mother loving face, I can't shake the anxiety of knowing that society carries a prize on my head, waiting to be swiped by Uncle Sam at any given moment, side-eyed or question for my motives in life...the rush and sense of urgency of knowing that time is ticking and my Free Creative + Butterfly Life will soon be out of season all because of my Age.  Can you believe that? Says, who. Remember Millennials do it differently. As fate would have it, I lost my vehicle to a car accident back in the Fall of 2021. It also happened to be the 3rd time, I was moving in a Year, during the Pandemic. I decided to take things for what they were -- and seize t...

Black History Month Dueces. 22 ---  I felt some type of way... I'd just finished Breakfast ~ A French/Kenyan Crepe, Potatoes + Grilled Tomato, Steamed Carrots w/ Mango Juice, and a sip of Black Coffee. I longed for the beach, but there was work to BE DONE -- the warm water and waves, kites flying in the air, and White Sand so soft you melt into it with each step. But all in all, I knew I had TO get to it! I came to Malindi - not to witness a wedding but a Playwright, an Artist, a Friend, a Host. And every day since I agreed to jump on board, I'd be rocking and rolling. Time is over the Essence. This weekend is the COOL DOWN>>> Watamu, a PLACE so LOVELY + Serene. Energizing & Free. Tomorrow, I book it. Nairobi. Then HOOME. <3 to MD. Day #1 Well, I made it. The Motherland. God willing ~ you cross the Atlantic Sea + Land Safely and discover that there is no reason to Fear. The images of poverty, lack with strips of refugee camp life, beggars and thieves -- enlarged...

Travel Escapism — that feels more like Reality

So, you’re off to another adventure? I can relate. Is this your 3rd go around? Did your feet touch the soil before you booked another one? Or were you still in the air when you hit SEND on that new flight reservation? Ha. Yes, it’s a thing.  One might think that a person living this way is up to something…or not much of anything. However, it is far from the truth. The nomadic way of living has been around for ages, much like animals migrating in Season, travelers tend to relocate from place to place as a reflection of where they are in their mind and heart space. One’s birthplace or hometown isn’t meant to be the final fate of their life’s journey forever. In fact, it’s getting away from “the norm” that causes our wits to be tested. In new places, where more is out of our control — spontaneous and unexpected than not. Our senses are heightened and the zeal for adventure and joy is just thought away. Let’s revisit this — conditioning. Much of our youth, adolescence, teen, and young ...

HOME | Where Millennials are starting to Roam

Home. His/Herstory has shown, The United States of America has mostly been comprised of immigrants -- a "newfound land" that welcomed foreigners seeking religious/spiritual freedom, political asylum, economic pursuits, and opportunity and a place that one could make their future brighter. From the early 1900s on -- immigrants would come for a short stint of time to work a "respectable job" or go to school, sending back hope and money to their families in their homeland. However, as the 2K Millenium approached, citizens began to make this their new home coming to stay for a good while and living out The American Dream.  A Traveling Black Woman But as it is said, "The Grass isn't Always Greener" and what many both foreigners and American soil born and raised citizens began to discover was that there was a conflict of interest in the lifestyle -- the history and how it relates to the whole of the person, today. Was the information true? Relevant? How cou...

Remote Work Saves the Day!

People tend not to understand. Being an Artist means that you get no days off. It’s a 24/7 kind of job whether a Creative Commissioning Artist, a Teacher, Administrator, Advocate or Affiliate there is no way to clock in and clock out of Inspiration. It just hits you and you have to be ready. That’s why it ’ s helpful to just check out of life and into a hotel at times. Not to vacation, but to get a good night's rest, wake up and actually get things done. Maya Angelou, Pulitzer Prize Writer said that she couldn’t write in her home because she was surrounded by too beautiful of things. I get it. There are layers to inspiration in if you’re not in the right setting it can mess with your mental space too. Follow IG: @na.bee Travelista Blog or  www.kaylaharley.com Getaway, not to Escape Reality — but to become it.” This is one of my many #beebodi quotes about wellness vacations, remote working travel excursions. Travel is a way of life and renders culture usually inspired by the ...

Encountering a Miracle. Embracing the small Miracles of LIFE. A Special visitation, in T&T.   https://www.koditt.org/ There is a lot of talk. There is a lot to say. After all, hundreds and thousands of people have died due to this strange virus (Coronavirus) — that’s displaced, separated people from their loved ones and uprooted a way of life that normally consists of the gathering of families, quality time spent among neighbors and friends, and an intimacy that comes with building community. But no matter “what dem say” . — when you li v e and move by the Spirit then you learn to trust God in all things and expect to see that the Righteous are never forsaken. (KJV, Psalm 13:5) “But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. This is the way, the mantra if you will by which Chrisitian’s are when it comes to making the impossible possible. On Sunday, September 12, 2021 a Pastors Mwale and Chantel Henry welcomed the congregation of KODI in their n...
